What is iPad and How it changed Technology

The first ever Apple iPad was released by Apple on April, 2010. It was an instant hit with over 3 million devices sold within first 80 days while over 14.8 million devices sold around the globe. The credit to its success goes to Apple brand name and its previous mega successes like Mac Notebook, iPod and iPhone. The stats itself tell the story how popular Apple is.

The 2nd release of iPad is called Apple iPad 2 and it was a hit as well which arrived in market on March 2011, both the devices have 1GHz processor. Apple A4 in iPad and Apple A5 in iPad 2. Memory in First Gen is 256 and 512 in 2nd Gen. The devices comes with iOS and Graphics Cards, Camera and Wi-Fi connectivity along with Bluetooth also.

After the first release of Apple iPad, many other companies like Acer, Samsung, Dell etc started releasing their similar touch pad devices. We can say that just like Apple’s iPhone, the iPad started a new technology war between many Hardware making companies and hence started the Patent war as well.

Recently Apple released an Ad showing What is iPad? You can see this Ad from Apple website here.

iPad is basically a mix of Laptop and a smart phone. Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs wanted the device to be at least 10 inch display because according to him, a 7 inch display would have been very small to display and express the software.

Similar to iPhone, this device is multitouch and uses Capacitive liquid display. So this means that it is controlled via fingers and not with styli or pen. Although there comes special style and gloved made for these kind of display screens.

iPad comes with a SIM slot as well and it feels like a laptop, which fulfills the latop+cellphone feel. Many new applications are developed every day and the Software industry have grown a lot after the release of iPad and similar devices. Release of such devices means more and more advancement in technology and resulting in more technology jobs as well.

This device syncs with Windows or Mac if it contains iTunes. Also the new iCloud technology supports iPad as well. Several application of iPad are enhanced version of applications that were available in iPhone and Mac. Few of these applications include YouTube, iPod, App Store, iTunes, Notes, Maps, iBooks and Spotlight Search.

Just like iPhone, this can be Jailbroken as well. Because Apple is very strict on its applications and most are paid apps therefore hackers are forced to release jailbreak methods to be able to install Cydia and other pirated apps.

The iPad is used a lot in our life, such as in office workplaces it is linked to the goal of increasing productivity, reduced paperwork and ease of carry, compared to laptops. All these helping to increase the mobile-office application market especially in North America and Europe.

In internet many blogs, forums and iPad forum etc have been created and people discus and express further enhancements, jailbreak methods, development, games and other issues related to this device.

In education iPad serves several enhanced methods for students and especially for homeschooling. It is also considered a helping tool for children with autism. Similarly it is helpful in Sports industry with players watching tactics etc with more ease and in Travel industry with Alaska Airlines becoming first airline to replace paper manuals of pilots with Apple’s iPads (Howzzat?)

New Version of Facebook for iPhone Launched

Just few days after new version of Facebook for Android, now Facebook for iPhone ver 3.4.3 is launched, this update fixes many bugs and enhanced security.

Facebook refrained from providing a change log or a list of enhancements and improvements. The update app is said to be more secure than its previous versions and more or less delivers the same user experience as seen on the previous version of the app.

Facebook for iPhone is without a doubt one of the most widely used iPhone apps, and also Facebook’s one of the most downloaded mobile app in comparison with Android and WP7 operating systems. The application delivers an absolute enhanced Facebook experience on the iPhone completed with news feeds, chats, photo uploads, games and more.

This app is compatible with Apple iPad and Apple iPod touch but the words are in the air of a separate application for iPad users. We will have to wait and see if it is true.

As said on Application page: “Facebook for iPhone makes it easy to stay connected and share information with friends. Use your iPhone to start a conversation with Facebook Chat, check your friends’ latest photos and status updates, look up a phone number, or upload your own mobile photos to Facebook while on the go.”

The company is said to be working on a desktop client which can introduce Facebook video chat service that would be seen as an in-browser feature and can replace the traditional text-only chatting tool now offered by Facebook. Never the less this new application is a must have for all the Facebook addicts owning an Apple Hand held device.

It is yet to see how people response to this update, but many users believe the changes were useless and they don’t like this update. Please let us know how you find this?

Apple unleashes new iCloud System

APPLE launched the iCloud yesterday. It is a web-based system allowing users to share data between computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets.
Chief executive Steve Jobs told the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco: “Keeping those devices in sync is driving us crazy.
“We are going to move the digital hub, the centre of your digital life, into the cloud.”
Apple also plan to slash mobile phone bills with their new iMessage system, which offers users of iPhones, iPads and iPods unlimited free texts.
The iCloud will be a free service storing user information from several devices, making sure the same contacts, calendar events and files are available on all of them.
It also backs up the data on Apple’s servers – so songs bought from iTunes and kept on your home computer will now be available to play wherever you are on another computer or mobile.
For an extra fee, the iTunes Match service will also scan users’ hard drives for songs taken from other sources and make them available anywhere through the iCloud.
Experts say cloud computing will revolutionise the way we use the internet in our everyday lives.
Instead of your home computer needing a hard drive full of data and installed programmes, all that’s required is an internet connection.
This could bring down the cost of computers sharply, and with broadband speeds increasing, more and more will be possible on the Net.
There are disadvantages – many users will be concerned about whether the new system is secure enough – but the iCloud could also have a major effect on the battle against music piracy, creating a lucrative new source of revenue for record labels.
Apple have also developed a new system called iMessage which will be built into all mobile Apple devices from this autumn.
It will allow instant messages including texts, pictures and video to be sent for free using wi-fi or the phone’s 3G data network.
The services will bypass a phone’s traditional text messaging system – potentially saving hundreds of pounds on an annual mobile phone bill.
But the new service looks likely to put Apple on a collision course with mobile phone networks, which could lose billions of pounds in revenue.
