Sony Ericsson have earlier announced that, the popular Xperia X10 handset will not be upgraded to the Android 2.2 (FroYo) OS, and it will remain upgraded to only Android 2.1 (Eclair) OS. But no sir, bad news for them and good new for the Xperia X10 users.
This can easily be done from custom ROM for the Xperia X10 smartphone that have been tested to perfection by many users. It allows the users to enjoy the benefits of the Android 2.2 (FroYo) OS, on their Xperia X10 smartphone. Zdzihu from the XDA-Developers forum, has released a new custom Android 2.2 (Froyo) ROM for the Xperia X10, named as the “FreeX10 Froyo 2.2 ROM”. It is currently available in a beta flavor and you can install it only via xRecovery.
According to the XDA Developers forum, “FreeX10 is a clean, fast and stable ROM for Xperia X10 based on AOSP and CM sources.” A hot fix has already been released, which solves the ringtone loop and Wi-Fi DNS issues. If you are planning to install this custom ROM, then you should note that, it requires a rooted 2.1 ROM on your device.
